Brief notes by Chris:-
The A Team beat a depleted Northampton 5-0 with Chris Ross absent. Steve played Eva and had a very good game with an interesting rook and pawn ending in which she played very well but not quite good enough to hold. Didn’t see much of Ravi’s win against Branko. I made heavy weather of my game, winning a pawn but with opposite bishops it would have been hard if my opponent had not swapped off queens and allowed me to trap his rook with bishop and pawn. Nick and Paul had comfortable wins.

This result completes a very successful season for the A team, winning all their matches aside from one loss and one draw. Sad to say, the loss was to Leighton Buzzard A who won the title by the slimmest of margins. A special mention for Steve Ledger who scored a near-perfect 9.5/10 – Ed.
