Bedford C Triumphs!

Bed C v LB B

Bedford C team achieved its first win of the season, while giving away an average of 30 grading points per board as usual, against a strong Leighton Buzzard team.  Admittedly, the result was aided by a default from LB on Board 5 and a bizarre situation on Board 1, where in desperate time trouble Brian Valentine made an illegal move that cost him a Bishop and the game (well worth a look – Ed).

On Board 1, I had a very tactical game that was quite unclear until Brian’s error – at that point we both had around 10 seconds for the last 4 moves, so it was very tight.

On Board 2, Peter Gill had a great game again, despite giving away 36 grading points, and achieved a creditable draw in probably a slightly better position.

On Board 3, Nigel Staddon ran into problems against an opponent graded 38 points higher.

On Board 4, Peter Housden had a great win against an opponent graded 24 points higher.

So overall, a great start to winning ways in the future!
