The world chess championship, currently being contested in Sochi, Russia, looks as though it is going right to the last game. I have received various recommendations and queries regarding how to stay in touch with it so I offer the following list. If other people have their own favourites, leave a comment.
- Live commentary:-
- FIDE world championship link – the official feed with live video of the players – weird adverts and Svidler can become a little irritating but worth a look
- ChessNetwork on Twitch – cheap and cheerful but I quite like it – no ads or egos
- Susan Polgar commentary – a little bit convoluted and unclear whether she will be commentating on game 12 but interesting
- chess 24 commentary – similar to the official feed
- chess bomb – bit weird but a different take on it
- chess arena – just the moves and a graphic
- Kingcrusher and friends – quite amusing and fun!
- Post-match reports:-
- Youtube provides a variety of excellent video reports (20 minutes-ish). Search for:-
- ChessNetwork – Jerry’s round up – simple but informative
- Powerplay chess – Danny King’s view – extremely good but irritating that he never shows the openings
- Kingcrusher – quite laconic but interesting
- Lawrence Trent – more amusing when he’s in a double act with Jan Gustafsson
- Other round-ups:-
- Youtube provides a variety of excellent video reports (20 minutes-ish). Search for:-
- Twitter (?) – plenty of top players tweeting along #CarlsenAnand
- Chess bookie (!) – my cheeky 6 to one against a play-off looks good value!?
