Bedford D out-gunned

On board one Neil lost, but on board two John’s game went down to the wire, with both players finishing with 0.00 on their clocks. Although his opponent’s flag seemed to fall first John agreed the draw in a show of good spirit. Jeremy put up a valiant debut performance against an unorthodox defence to the English but eventually couldn’t stop a supported passed pawn. In a game strangely reminiscent of my outing against the OU I came out of the opening behind, and managing to survive a few oversights in the midgame, eventually getting a couple of pawns up before blundering a rook and resigning. Tony and his opponent are now old friends after 3 games against 3 different teams. He went a piece down and was worn down in the end game
