Apologies to Peter who sent me this a few days ago but it does give me the opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year – may all your sacrifices bear fruit!
Perhaps some members were still recovering from or celebrating Christmas because only 8 of us turned up last Thursday. With no club tournament games planned we held an impromptu all play rapid affair with 5 minutes each plus increments of 3 seconds per move. Despite there being nearly 70 years between the oldest and youngest contestants, and more than 50 years difference between lengths of membership, most of the games were very competitive.
Mike Bottteley emerged as the winner with 6 wins from 7.
