The match got off to a great start when Ramsey’s opponent made a pretty disastrous choice early on in the game allowing Ramsey to harvest a free piece and the game followed shortly afterwards.
The rest of us had to work a bit harder though.
James’ game seemed to be fairly quiet and equallish for pretty much its entirety. They reached an ending where W had the 2 B’s and then a W B v B N ending but i’m not aware that either side ever had great winning chances and a draw was eventually agreed.
Didn’t see much of Alex’s game but when I heard them agree a draw, Alex was a pawn up but black’s pieces and king were more active.
Nick’s was the final game to finish and his comments on it are thus : Mine was an advance Caro. I picked up a pawn in the early middlegame and we ended up with his passed a and b pawns vs. my passed c and d pawns. Both blockaded but his blockade was more shiftable than mine. Eventually I got the pawns going but missed a move in time trouble and had to abandon them although I picked up his pawns. Ended with 3 vs. 2 in a rook ending but his were split. I advanced the king and won one of them. His king was cut off and I eventually managed to shove a pawn down the board. He’s a new player but seemed pretty useful.
As no other submissions were received, you’ll have to make do with my effort. No fireworks on the board but I was fairly happy with my play.
