There were 10 players competing in the time and material competition and – surprise surprise – Qais Karimi won with a score of 7.5. Starting some games a piece up against players he’ll be meeting on level terms in next year’s Division 1 he was – to all but Alex Taylor who “smashed” him – a handful, and of course he was lucky against me as usual! (this assertion seems to be disputed by some?).
Thanks to Peter for organising.
This week it’s the fabulous chess variations – a chance to experience what chess might have been like if the rules had been ever so slightly different. Anyone who hasn’t tried them – give to a go, you’ll be astonished!
You’ve got me at it now. Details of the new Luton venue can be found here, feeback is required

Hi Steve, I’ve had quite a few individuals contact me of late wishing to join the Beds league for next season. I’ve managed to work out which club is closest to them and advised them to contact the club secretaries accordingly. I posted an entry on my blog with a brief profile of each individual. Bedford should have one new member joining.
Mark’s new recruits are detailed at https://mccreadyandchess.com/2016/07/17/new-club-member-looking-for-someone-to-play/ !?
