We were hammered 5-0 by Luton in our first match of the season, and a reasonable ambition for the return leg was not to repeat the experience in our last match of the season. Thanks, Ben, for doing the necessary!
I blundered a bishop just out of the opening and resigned straightaway. I started watching the other games just in time to see Tony resetting the pieces, so I can’t say much about that game. The others all looked pretty bad too at that stage, and Tony and I agreed that another 0-5 was on the cards.
Qais was under pressure as Mick pushed his pawns forward, and eventually succumbed. Toby lost his a1 rook to a g7 bishop after some tactics, and although he fought hard and long, coming up with various ingenious mate threats, the end result was the likely one. So it was left to Ben to be our one chink of light. You can form your own opinion of the game, so you don’t need mine.
