For the second week running Blagan won quickly. I have no idea what happened!
Neil had the white side of a French defense this week. The position looked chaotic to me, but he seemed to have it under control and finished off with a nice rook & knight mate – see game.
Third to finish was Qais whose position looked more coordinated than Dave’s whenever I looked. I didn’t see the end.
That was because I was busy! After a dodgy opening which I don’t think will make the theory books, I won a pawn. Any thoughts I had that I was doing OK were shattered by Alan’s 19.f5!, after which I gave up my queen to avoid being immediately mated.
Peter, kindly making a guest appearance for the D-team due to the clash with the County Championship, built up a good-looking position and swapped off into a winning rook and pawn endgame. With less than two minutes on his clock he was unable to finish it off.
