Cordon Trophy won by Leighton Buzzard A! (scores corrected and pictures added!)

Congratulations to Leighton Buzzard who got their name on the Cordon Trophy for the first time when their A team scored 11.5/16 to win the competition.  Bedford A were second, one point behind and Milton Keynes A finished in third with 9 points.

It was a very enjoyable event, hosted by the Bedford club, expertly controlled by Adrian Elwin as ever.  Nine teams of four competed:-  Bedford A, B and C, MK A and B, Leighton Buzzard A and B, Northampton and Kents Luton.  The format was four rounds of rapid (15 minutes each). Detailed statistics are available here.

All members of Bedford A could probably have scraped an extra point from somewhere at some point although the Editor takes significant blame for a lamentable piece blunder in the opening against the Peter Hunt in the last round.

Bedford B were 4th with good performances by Marc and John on top and bottom boards respectively.

Bedford C contained two new faces – well done to Qais and Jan for solid contributions to the team’s total which secured 6th place.

Many thanks to Collin Solloway for the pictures (I have sent the one of me to my mother who is likely to be the only appreciative viewer)
